So, you’ve seen what we have to offer and you are ready to take the first step towards all the opportunities and benefits that the Air Cadets can offer you?

You can join as a cadet upon entering year 8, which will be the September after your 12th birthday. The maximum age for entry as a cadet is 17 years old, therefore you can request to join us up until your 18th birthday. If you don't fit into that age group and still want to enjoy all of our activities and more, you could join as a volunteer. Parents will be interested to read the information below about how your child can join the organisation, but your also encouraged to visit our parents page to see how you can join the Squadron committee.

Potential Cadets

Aside from flying, sports, target shooting, adventure training and great fun? You’ll soon find that being an Air Cadet is its own reward - you constantly see the benefits of your own efforts, building on your achievements and earning BTECs and DoE Awards. You'll be expected to take part in as many of the activities we run as possible, but with what's on offer you won't need much persuading!

We have high standards to maintain as we are a 'military' youth organisation and you'll naturally take pride in your uniform and appearance. You'll be well mannered and self-disciplined. You'll be joining an organisation of which you’ll be very proud.

We would welcome you to come down to one of our parade evenings with a parent or guardian. If you email us through the details on the contact page, we can ensure we are at the Squadron that night. If you come down the Squadron for around 19:00hrs, we will get you a tour organised from one of our existing cadets who will be more than happy to answer any questions you have and give you their feedback about the Squadron. From there we’ll organise a talk with one of the Squadron staff where you can again ask about any queries you have with joining the Squadron.

You will then be free to join in the Squadron activities on that night, or return the next parade night if you want to join. You will be provided with your uniform after a short period at the Squadron, which allows you to settle into the Squadron.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Squadron

What are you waiting for!
